About Day Room Window

In addition to a theatre career that spans 40 years as a professional actor, director, teacher and playwright, Bonnie Cohen also worked as a drama therapist in both juvenile detention as well as in a women’s prison with girls under the age of 18 who were sentenced to adult time. Ms. Cohen found that the conditions for teenage girls incarcerated as adults were intolerable.

After her work in the women’s prison ended, she was compelled to write the play, Day Room Window, based on that experience. She completed the play in 2010, followed by two staged readings in Seattle as well as readings in Washington DC and Pittsburgh.
